Nestled on the shores of a tranquil lake, the kitchen at Interlaken Rd I underwent a stunning transformation, blending contemporary design elements with the cozy charm of a traditional cottage. The space was reimagined to reflect the beauty of its surroundings while meeting the practical needs of its owners.
The clients, new homeowners, sought to brighten up their kitchen while adding contrast and color. They envisioned a space that would not only be functional but also reflect the serene beauty of the lake and pool views. Keeping the existing flooring and tongue and groove ceilings, the design team focused on updating everything else to create a fresh, modern look.
One of the unique aspects of the project was the decision to bring in blue for the cabinets, mirroring the colors of the lake and pool. This choice added a vibrant yet calming element to the space, enhancing its connection to the natural surroundings.
Canvas white walls provided a neutral backdrop, allowing the deep blue cabinets and slate tile to stand out. Natural materials such as wood were incorporated throughout, including a wood dining table and wood island countertop. Beadboard cabinetry woodwork, cozy textiles in the bench nook and linen shades, rattan light fixtures, and tongue and groove ceilings added to the cottage-like feel of the space.….
A key design element was the creation of a casual dining area where family and friends could gather for meals and conversation. A bench nook was incorporated adjacent to both the dining table and bar stools, providing ample seating and creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The overall design concept was coined “Modern Cottage,” blending contemporary design elements with the cozy charm and relaxed atmosphere of a traditional cottage. This fusion of styles created a space that was both stylish and inviting. The clients were thrilled with the result, noting that the space exceeded their expectations. They now enjoy spending time in their kitchen, taking in the beautiful views and creating memories with family and friends.
